ABSTRACT |
This presentation is aimed at the mathematician inside
every mathematics teacher. The modern mathematical theory of chaos
has changed the way we understand our world, has led to commercial
applications and has given us fascinating mathematics to play with.
The talk begins by resolving the oxymoron in the title Deterministic
Chaos. Simple examples presented in plain language illustrate
the big ideas. Computer demonstrations bring alive the dynamics
of chaos. References to further resources will be provided. |
