Workshop on IMRT
Radiation Therapy Treatment Planning: Target Uncertainties, Computational Challenges and Beyond

at the Fields Institute , 222 College Street, Toronto

Overview

The workshop will explore advanced and robust computational approaches for: 1. tackling non-systematic errors in intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT) treatment planning; and 2. image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) techniques for incorporating organ motions and other non-stationary geometry into the treatment planning process.

The workshop consists of three core groups of presentations. The first two consist of talks by physicists, clinicians and operations researchers on image-guided therapy and robust optimization approaches for managing organ motion and uncertainties. The third, an evening event, incorporating the ongoing Fields Industrial Optimization Seminar, includes a leading optimization researcher presenting computational strategies for large-scale IMRT planning, and a physicist discussing computational challenges in the field.
