FUTURE TEACHERS

TEACHABLE SUBJECTS

(teachable requirements may vary from one Faculty of Education to another)
(check with the Faculty of Education of your choice)

For teaching at J/I (Grades 4 to 10) 1 teachable (18 credits or 3 full year courses) is required and is to be chosen from the following list:

Computer Science History
Dance Mathematics
Drama Music
Environmental Science Physical and Health Science
English Science
French Visual Arts
Geography  

For teaching at J/I (Grades 7 to OAC) 2 teachable subjects are required (as general guideline the first teachable requires 36 hours or 6 full year courses and a second teachable requires 18 credits or 3 full year courses) and are to be chosen from the following list:

Biology Individual and Society
Chemistry Italian
Computer Science Mathematics
Dance Music
Drama Physical and Health Education
Economics Physics
French Science-General*
Geography Spanish
Environmental Science Visual Arts
History  

*Science-General is not available for candidates who choose Biology, Chemistry or Physics as one of their teachables.
When Mathematics is chosen as a teachable specific courses must be completed:
1) Calculus- 6 credits or one full year course
2) Linear Algebra- 6 credits or one full year course
3) Probability and Statistics- 6 credits or one full year course
4) Proof-based Mathematics- 6 credits or one full year course
