Uniqueness polynomials and some related topics
Abstract: I will discuss some approaches to the problem of constructing
and characterizing uniqueness polynomials and unique range sets.
For uniqueness polynomials I will discuss a method to explicitly
construct regular 1-forms on singular curves associated to the polynomials,
and in the case of unique range sets I will explain how a method
of Siu can be used to construct examples of unique range sets coming
from uniqueness polynomials P without assuming an injectivity condition
on the zeros of the derivative P'.

Galois representations and Runge's method
Abstract: We use a special version of Runge's method to prove that
there exists an integer p_0 such that for any non-CM elliptic curve
E over Q and any prime p>p_0 the image of the representation
of the absolute Galois group of Q induced by the Galois action on
the p-division points of E is not contained in the normalizer of
a split Cartan subgroup. This gives a partial answer to an old question
of Serre. A joint work with P. Parent.

p-adic deformations of Shintani cycles
Abstract: Let E/Q be an elliptic curve of conductor N having
ordinary reduction at a prime p and write f for the newform attached
to it. Let K be a real quadratic field in which all the primes of
N are split. We construct a p-adic analytic function L(k) which
interpolates certain Shintani cycles attached to weight-k-specialization(s)
of a Hida family interpolating f. When p divides N exactly, we show
that L(k) vanishes to order at least 2 at k=2, and express its second
derivative at k=2 as the product of the formal group logarithms
of two global points on E defined over a quadratic extension of
K. This may be regarded as an analogue for elliptic curves of a
limit formula of Kronecker, in which Eisenntein series are replaces
by cusp forms.

Abstract: I will present some recent results (and their applications)
related to the asymptotic behaviour of the Kobayashi pseudometric
on almost complex manifolds. More preciseily, I'll focus on sharp
estimates of this pseudometric near the boundary of J-strictly pseudoconvex
domains in real dimension four.

A "proto-trace formula" of Hurwitz and an application
Abstract: In an 1885 paper, Adolf Hurwitz used theta functions in
conjunction with Hecke operators to develop certain "class
number relations". In this talk, I will discuss his method
and describe an application which counts elliptic curves over the
rational numbers whose associated division fields have "as
much Galois symmetry as possible".
