May 25-29, 2015
Theme on Delay differential equations in life sciences and medicine
The week will have as a primary focus delay equation mathematical models
in bioscience and medicine and how they confront data. It is a workshop
and not a traditional meeting so it is loosely structured and will self-organize
in situ, hopefully nucleating around a few talks given by Jiguo Cao, Odo
Diekmann, Tony Humphries, and John Milton to get us rolling. To aid in this
venture on Monday everyone will give a speed talk, taking 3
minutes to tell us what you are doing, why you are doing it, and problems
you may have encountered in the process. (NO SLIDES! This is like doing
a candid elevator talk [not just all of the stuff that worked]) We are especially
interested in the problems you have encountered. In the process of doing
this we will all come to understand the research problems that each of us
is facing, and some natural working groups will emerge, which will have
ample time to meet informally throughout the week. On Friday morning we
will have informal reports from the working groups about what they have
been up to, where the problems lie, ideas about how to attack these, any
success that might have been achieved, etc. etc.
