OVERVIEW
The subject of group rings naturally brings together researchers in ring
theory and group theory, and has close connections to work in several other
areas, especially representation theory and number theory. Recent advances
in other areas, including algebras with polynomial identities, graded algebras
and Lie algebras, coding theory, and the search for set-theoretic solutions
of the Yang-Baxter equations have shed light on the importance of techniques
developed initially for group rings.
The purpose of the Brock International Conference on Groups, Rings and Group
Rings is to bring international groups of researchers in group rings together
with those in areas with close connections to group rings to present and discuss
the latest advances in these areas. It will also provide an opportunity for
graduate students and postdocs from Canadian universities and from some international
universities to present their own results and to appreciate the scope and
depth of the theories of groups, rings and group rings by attending this conference.
This will be the first such conference held in the Niagara region.
The invited speakers:
Eli Aljadeff (Technion University, Israel )
Jason Bell (University of Waterloo, Canada)
Yuri Bahturin (Memorial University, Canada)
Gabriele Nebe (RWTH Aachen, Germany)
Jan Okninski (Warsaw University, Poland)
Donald Passman (University of Wisconsin - Madison, USA)
César Polcino Milies (University of Sao Paulo, Brazil)
David Riley (Western University, Canada)
Ángel del Río (University of Murcia, Spain)
Sudarshan Sehgal (University of Alberta, Canada)
Benjamin Steinberg (City College of New York, USA)
Sergio Lopez-Permouth (Ohio University, USA)
Efim Zelmanov (U. California - San Diego, USA)
