SCHOLAR II - A Scientific Celebration Highlighting Open Lines of Arithmetic Research
Description
This meeting is focused on new methods and directions of research in number theory. Over the past two decades, particularly in recent years, the field of number theory has seen spectacular advances. Its various branches of research, such as analytic number theory, arithmetic geometry, and theory of automorphic forms, are intensely active and highly successful research areas. In addition, we have seen new applications of these topics in problems in information technology, such as data encryption and the security of networks. This three day meeting will focus on new methods and directions of research in number theory (analytic number theory, arithmetic geometry, and automorphic forms). The conference is aimed at both junior and senior researchers in the field. The meeting will focus on several aspects of number theory including:
- Sieve Methods;
- Automorphic Forms and L-functions;
- Arithmetic Geometry (including Transcendental Number Theory).
In these topics, the work of Professor Ram Murty has been substantial and influential. The conference will take place around his 70th birthday and also aims at honouring his many contributions to number theory.
