International Mathematical Sciences Institutes (IMSI)
IMSI is an international consortium of research institutes in the mathematical sciences that run thematic research programs and have large visitor programs. IMSI meetings are normally held in conjunction with major international meetings and provide a forum for developing cooperation among the member institutions. IMSI meetings were held at the ICIAM meeting in Hamburg (1995) and at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) in Zurich (1994), Berlin (1998), Madrid (2006), Hyderabad (2010) and Seoul (2014).
IMSI Mission Statement
IMSI's mission is to:
- Help to disseminate to the international mathematical sciences communities the opportunities available at mathematical sciences institutes throughout the world.
- Foster communication among the mathematical sciences institutes in order to share the best practices, encourage coordination and cooperation, and pool resources when appropriate.
- Cooperate on projects for which the mathematical sciences institutes are in an exceptional position to contribute, such as enhancing visibility of the mathematical research enterprise, increasing the opportunities for mathematicians from developing countries, etc.
