Mirzakhani's work on Earthquakes
Speaker:

Date and Time:

Location:
Fields Institute, Room 230
Abstract:
We will give the proof of Mirzakhani's theorem that the earthquake flow and Teichmuller unipotent flow are measurably isomorphic. We will assume some familiarity with quadratic differentials, but no familiarity with earthquakes, and a good amount of time will be devoted to preliminaries. We will also discuss some additional connections, such as the link between Weil-Petersson and Masur-Veech volumes. Notes are available at www-personal.umich.edu/~alexmw/GrenobleEarthquakes.pdf and will be updated throughout the course.
