Praxair is the largest industrial gas company in North America and the third worldwide. It produces oxygen, argon, nitrogen and hydrogen among many other gases and mixtures. Praxair operates hundreds of large industrial plants to manufacture such products. Due to the competitive nature of the business, operational efficiency is one of Praxair’s pillars. In this seminar, Smart Manufacturing and Digital Transformation, as applied to Praxair’s operations, are discussed and illustrated with several industrial examples; among them, advanced process control for Steam Methane Reforming, IIoT for compressor monitoring, advanced analytics for reliability, and optimization for production planning. A glance into other novel technology areas is also presented.
