Abstract:
I will start with arithmetic bi-algebraicity, surveying transcendence results on Betti coordinates and on the maximal compact subgroup of a vectorial extension of an abelian variety. The analogous problems for toric extensions lead to natural conjectures on the Neron-Tate pairing, which I will discuss in relation with functional bi-algebricity for families of 1-motives.
