Information Theory studies the transmission, processing, and use of information in many contexts (transmission, compression, storage etc); it draws from and contributes to a large number of disciplines in the mathematical sciences. The areas of study of participants will include pure mathematics, theoretical computer science, and the engineering sciences. The types of research topics presented will span foundational theory, algorithmic design, and implementation in practice. The main aim of this workshop is to foster research in the area of information theory within Canada and provide a venue for continued interaction between researchers in Canada.
