Workshop on Higher Structures in Geometry and Physics
Description
Higher structures are an essential component in Homological Mirror Symmetry. Attempting to replace a Fukaya category by its homotopy category, often called a Donaldson--Fukaya category, would simply dispose of too much information. For example, one would lose all hope of extracting Gromov-Witten invariants in general. Thus one would naturally expect that where HMS finds influence in geometry and physics, some higher structures are already lurking. History has born this true. However, of course, higher structures are not limited to HMS, but rather a feature of much of geometry and physics. The mantra is repeated again and again here: one needs to keep track of the higher structures to get the $\textit{true}$ statement.
With an eye towards the use and need for higher structures, this workshop will bring together experts in algebraic geometry, symplectic geometry, and theoretical physics to focus on common areas interacting with HMS. Potential topics are Bershadsky--Cecotti--Ooguri--Vafa theory, shifted symplectic structures, higher Donaldson-Thomas invariants, and symplectic duality, in relation to HMS.
