Description
Please see the official event page for more details: https://ssc.ca/en/meetings/annual/2021-annual-meeting/student-conference .
The Canadian Statistical Student Conference (CSSC) is a national conference initiated by the Statistical Society of Canada (SSC) and organized entirely by students. Currently, it is in its ninth year.
The CSSC provides a low-stress platform for undergraduate and graduate students in statistics across the country to present their research works and share their research ideas. Opportunities for oral and poster presentations will be provided to the selected abstracts. In past years’ presentations, a wide range of topics was represented, including, but not limited to, probability theory, survey methods, biostatistics, actuarial science, statistical education, business, and industrial statistics. The event also provides a friendly environment for students to communicate with professionals in academia and in industry. A statistical science researcher is generally invited to give a keynote speech discussing the recent research topics in her/his field with the aim of inspiring student researchers. Statisticians from industry and government are invited to hold a career session that allows them to share their experiences. This session aims to help students directly connect with professionals and get better prepared for their careers. A computational workshop is held by a senior graduate student to help other students develop their technical skills with hands-on experiences.
