This workshop will focus on the topological aspects of real algebraic varieties, including singularities and invariants of real algebraic sets, resolution theorems, algebraic homology, distribution of real algebraic sets in the projective space and moduli spaces of algebraic structures. This workshop is the first of three workshops to be held in conjunction with the program on Singularity Theory and Geometry between January and June 1997 at the Institute.
