Short Thematic Program on Delay Differential Equations
May 1 - 31, 2015
Program Outline
This program was coordinated around four interconnected themes:
(i) Differential equations with variable delay;
(ii) Structured delay systems;
(iii) Delay differential equations in physical sciences and engineering;
(iv) Delay differential equations in medicine and physiology,
each correspoindg to a workshop. The first three workshops typically consisted of a short introductory lecture, an opening talk covering the main issues of the sub-theme in a format suitable for general participants, a number of invited talks to cover the subject in depth, problem sessions and panel discussions with focusing on future directions, and some public lectures focusing on applications. The final week had only a limited number of scheduled talks to stimulate topics of further discussion and to encourage self-organized activities.
The invited presentations combined provided a comprehensive picture of the current status including most recent progress in the theme and the entire field. The primary goal of these presentations and discussions was to generate synergy among these themes, and every effort was made to make sure that the thematic areas combined provided a global picture of the frontiers and future directions in nonlinear dynamics of delay differential equations.
