Assessment in a Thinking Classroom
Many teachers have begun adopting Thinking Classrooms, but what does assessment look like in a such a classroom? How can assessment be aligned with current policy? This session will look at some of the strategies currently being used for assessing in a Thinking Classroom.
Bio:
Dave Lanovaz is a math teacher at Trenton High School, where he has taught mathematics for the past 18 years. He has been involved in Achieving Excellence in Applied Courses (AEAC) at the school since the program began. The department focus for AEAC over the years has been to get applied level students to improve their thinking and problem solving skills, as well the communication of their thinking. The past couple of years have seen the adoption of Thinking Classrooms across the department as a way to help achieve this goal.
