In this talk, we will present the main ideas behind the need for a Batalin-Vilkovisky construction for gauge theories in the framework of NCG. After a description of the motivation, some results will be presented, mostly regarding the case of finite spectral triples. Finally, the challenges posed by the infinite-dimensional case will be mentioned, together with some interesting open problems.
