Bhargava's results on $p$-adic analytic functions

Abstract:
My unique joint paper with Bhargava is a description of the continuous functions on compact subsets of local fields, using the generalized factorial functions he introduced in his undergraduate honors thesis in order to describe integer-valued polynomials on Dedekind domains. After recounting this story, we will describe how Bhargava revisited these ideas to describe locally analytic functions in terms of generalized factorials.
