Abstract:
In this talk we consider derived intersections of smooth subvarieties of an ambient smooth variety of characteristic 0 or large enough. We investigate whether the derived intersection is formal. As applications we compute the Hochschild (co)homology groups of global quotient orbifolds and we give a geometric interpretation of a beautiful result of Deligne and Illusie concerning the formality of the de Rham complex in positive characteristic.
