Digital Tools to Engage Your Students
In this presentation, Gian will showcase digital tools to help engage and stimulate students in math. He will showcase Mentimeter slide types as well as the quiz feature to show that gamification can be brought to the classroom. Other demos will be Quizlet, Padlet, Lucidchart and its sharing and collaborating features.
Bio:
Gian Michele Pileri is the Educational Technology Specialist at Humber College’s Centre for Teaching and Learning. He completed his postsecondary education in Fine Arts at the European Institute of Design in Milan, Italy and earned a second degree in Audio-Visual and Communication Technologies from the
University of Ferrara, Italy. During his professional career he accumulated more than 18 years of production and teaching expertise across a number of industries, including entertainment, fashion, education, and customer services. Most recently, Gian held digital technology teaching and producing roles at the University of Guelph-Humber and at McMaster University.
As the Educational Technology Specialist at Humber College, Gian fills a pivotal role in supporting faculty in their exploration, experimentation and use of educational technologies to support learning. Specifically, he works directly with faculty to identify and demonstrate how specific technologies can influence and support pedagogical approaches for learning in the digital age. With his combined education and experience, Gian supports faculty with new insights and usage scenarios, and provides personable and informed technology advice.
