We start by motivating the study of discrepancy of finitely supported measures on the torus by their connection with flows and equidecomposition. The remainder of the first part and the whole of the second part of the talk will be devoted to sketching the proofs of some recent joint work with Anton Bernshteyn and Anush Tserunyan.
