We consider energy minimization schemes for generating good node sets for discretizing a manifold according to a prescribed probability measure on the manifold. These non-convex optimization problems also serve as a model for complex systems such as arise in large neural networks. This is joint work with Alex Vlasiuk and Ed Saff.
