Bio:

Steven’s work and research encourages students to think of mathematical education in a wider social and societal context, aiming to promote a deep understanding of the possibilities for multispecies flourishing through mathematics education. He studies the interaction of math and culture, ethnomathematics, and promotes teaching of math in a way that allows for individuals to learn through the lens of their own experiences. He has been heavily involved in the promotion of anti-racist and Indigenous education at the University of Alberta.
