In this talk we will discuss about invariant complex structures on solvmanifolds, i.e. compact quotients of solvable Lie groups, of real dimension six, and related geometric structures as balanced metrics. We will show some applications about holomorphic deformations of the complex structure and solutions to the Strominger system and equations of motion.
