Abstract:
This lecture will focus on the geometric underpinnings of mirror symmetry, along the lines of the Strominger-Yau-Zaslow conjecture. The key objects on the symplectic side are Lagrangian torus fibrations and the enumerative geometry of their fibers. We will show how these determine a mirror space, focusing on simple examples to illustrate phenomena such as "instanton corrections" and the role of superpotentials when mirror symmetry is extended beyond the Calabi-Yau setting.
