In this presentation is the Machine Learning analysis from which we are able to identify, classify and track emerging virus variants. We discover that each new wave of the COVID-19 pandemic is driven and dominated by a new emerging variant. Moreover, our ML algorithm works as an efficient early warning system for the emergence of new persistent variants that may pose a threat of triggering a new wave of COVID-19.
Dr Shahram Vatani studied Physics at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon where he graduated. He completed his PhD under the direction of Giacomo Cacciapaglia in Theoretical Physics at the University of Lyon. His main subject of research is High Energy Particle Physics and especially the Higgs sector. Recently he joined a unique collaboration between string theorists, particle physicists, lattice physicists, experimentalists and computer scientists, and latterly virologists and microbiologists, to study the COVID-19 pandemic.
