Non-existence of Poincare-Einstein metrics with prescribed conformal infinity

Abstract:
In this talk I will describe the construction of (infinitely many) conformal classes on the standard 7-dimensioanl sphere which cannot be the conformal infinity of a Poincare-Einstein metric defined on the unit 8-disk. I will then describe some ongoing work which places this construction in a more general context.
