Abstract:
Computing particular solutions of PDEs can bring important insights. In the theory of the incompressible Navier-Stokes and Euler there have been a number of important numerical computations. In many cases it seems to be hard to prove rigorously what computations suggest. We will discuss some of these situations, concerning mostly the questions of regularity and uniqueness for both the Navier-Stokes and the Euler equations.
