OAME: The OAME 2019 Annual Conference, All In, will be held at UOttawa, May 16 - 18.
OMCA: Our main event this school year will be our retreat on February 7th and 8th at Hockley Valley. Our guest speaker will be James Tanton.
CMESG: A message for CMESG members from MACAS: The Mathematics and its Connections with the Arts and Sciences (MACAS) symposium will take place at McGill University in Montreal from June 18 - 21, 2019. MACAS-2019 targets researchers and educators from mathematics, sciences, arts, humanities, philosophy, educational sciences and other disciplines that are intrinsically connected to mathematics. For this symposium, we want to focus specifically on the theme “MACAS in the Digital Era” thus aiming to take a closer look at future challenges and the role of interdisciplinary mathematical education in the digital era. For more information, please see our website: https://mcgill.ca/macas2019/. MACAS 2019 welcomes proposals from October 15, 2018, to February 15, 2019.
CMS: Winter conference is in Vancouver, 7-10 December 2017. There are three sessions of interest to math ed people: "Indigenization and Reconciliation through University Mathematics: Why, When, and How?," "Educational Resources in Mathematics," and "Authentic Teaching and Learning in University Mathematics." For more information, such as abstracts of the above (and all other) sessions, visit https://winter18.cms.math.ca/.
MKN: Throughout September and October, our Communities of Practice (CoPs: Mathematics Leadership, Computational Thinking, Critical Transitions, and Indigenous Knowledge) shared many new resources (visit mkn-rcm.ca/mkn-resources) including infographics, math task summaries, reports, video series, and more. The November 24th Fields MathEd Forum will be focused on Computational Thinking in Mathematics Education, and will include several presentations from our CT CoP members.
