Abstract:
The scalar curvature of a Riemannian manifold is a function on the manifold that can be computed from the Riemannian metric. Its geometric meaning is unclear. There are two main tools for scalar curvature: minimal surfaces and Dirac operators. I will talk about old and new results that use Dirac operators to understand scalar curvature.
