This is a review of the work of Gates-Hull-Roček on two-dimensional sigma models and generalized Kähler geometry. We start with a basic introduction to two-dimensional sigma models and the notion of supersymmetry. The main goal of the talk will be to relate supersymmetry on the sigma model to generalized Kähler geometry on the target manifold.
