Taking the Leap: Creating a Markless Classroom
I will be sharing my experience of creating an outcomes-based classroom. I will outline the planning and supports needed prior to implementing the markless classroom. The ongoing process of running this type of class will also be discussed. The discussion will include descriptions of tracking student progress, how to incorporate this type of classroom into the framework used by your board, the results of this method, and possible next steps.
Bio:
Erin Marsella is a mathematics teacher at Richmond Hill High School (York Region DSB) with 19 years experience. Her goal is to always be refining her teaching practices, and to find new ways of challenging students, and supporting their well being. This has lead to creating thinking classrooms, exploring team teaching, and currently running a markless classroom.
