In this talk I will first present an overview of partition relations for the rationals as an ordered set and as a topological space.

I will then focus on results from a joint project with W. Weiss where we obtain topological partition relations for countable ordinals. Our results rely on the use of families of finite sets to represent countable ordinals. I will provide the details about this representation and how it can be used to define bad colorings.
