Abstract:
In holomorphic dynamics, the orbits of critical points tell us a lot about the general behaviour of a rational function. One case of interest is that of rational functions all of whose critical orbits are finite. Since this condition is algebraic, it is not surprising that tools from Diophantine geometry can shed some light on these sorts of dynamical systems. We will give an overview of some recent research on the arithmetic of critical orbits of rational functions.
