We will recall the definition and and main properties of the renormalized volume of quasifuchsian hyperbolic manifolds, and of the dual volume of their convex core. We will then indicate strong similarities between the two and outline a "dictionary" between quasifuchsian manifolds seen "from infinity" and from the boundary of the convex core. This leads to a number of open questions.
