This is the first of two talks on dimension theory for the C*-algebras of k-graphs. In this talk I will focus on topological dimension zero and what conditions on a k-graph $\Lambda$ are necessary and sufficient for the associated C*-algebra $C^*(\Lambda)$ to have topological dimension zero.
