Abstract:
Microinsurance has given rise to challenges that are frequently beyond traditional actuarial techniques. For example, actual losses may not be directly observable, yet they need to be reliably assessed and properly priced for insurance to become attractive to small (and numerous) entrepreneurs. We shall discuss some of the recent advances in the area of risk measurement and pricing that could become relevant to micro-insurers by facilitating their decision making.
