CoSTs (corner sharing triangles/tetrahedra) are a discrete representation alternative to prevailing, continuous representations of microstructure. We show that they (a) provide a rich formal design space of scale-invariant, hierarchical and irregular microstructures with built-in rigidity properties, (b) an alternative complementary to continuum mechanics multiphysics analysis and (c) facilitate large-scale slicing and printing.
