Large and infinitesimal atoms

Abstract:
We discuss the role of noncommutative functions in the location of eigenvalues of a polynomial in independent random matrices. Large atoms have to do with eigenvalues of high multiplicity and infinitesimal atoms relate to outlying eigenvalues.
