Homotopy Theory, K-theory, and Topological Data Analysis
a conference in honor of Rick Jardine

This conference will honour the work of John F. (Rick) Jardine, a professor at the University of Western Ontario. Over his 40+ year career, Rick has made foundational contributions to homotopy theory, K-theory, and topological data analysis, in particular shaping the current landscape of homotopical algebra.

Accommodation
Discounted rates have been arranged for participants at The Park Hotel, located in downtown London, about a 30-minute walk along Richmond Street or a 45-minute walk along the river from the venue. The rate (for a really nice room!) is CAD\$ 183 /night + tax, which is approximately USD\$ 130. The rate is available through May 7, 2026 and can be accessed by following this link.
Additionally, participants may book accommodation at Ontario Hall, the newest residence hall on campus, at CAD\$ 91.50 /night (approx. USD\$ 65) for a private room and CAD\$ 76.50 /night (approx. USD\$ 55) for a private bedroom and shared bathroom with another conference participant. Ontario Hall is located 15-20 minutes away from the conference venue, and it provides high quality accommodation, consistently ranking first on students' preference forms. The rate is available through May 8, 2026 and can be accessed by following this link.
Travel
London is served by the London International Airport YXU, located approximately 20 minutes by car from Western University and The Park Hotel. There are 10-15 daily flights between London and Toronto and 2-3 between London and Calgary. There is also a daily flight to Cancun, a very convenient (and international) connection with a typical layover of two weeks. Most travellers to London opt for flying to either Toronto Pearson International Airport YYZ or the Detroit Metro Airport DTW.
Both Pearson and Detroit are served by several shuttle services, including Robert Q, Flix Bus, and Ontario Express Bus (ONEXBUS). Most buses offer several drop-off points in London, including the VIA Rail Station and Western University. The VIA Rail Station is located within 5-8 minute cab ride (or 20-25 minute walk) from The Park Hotel.
The Western University stop is located within a 5-minute walk from the conference venue and a 20-minute walk from Ontario Hall. Robert Q also offers a custom drop-off option at the address of your choosing.
From Toronto, one can travel to London by rail, which is typically more comfortable, but also more expensive and longer
